Raymond,
It may be that when you restart the spooler, the is trying to print the job
again. Open up the folder '%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers' (just paste
this into an explorer window, and it will resolve %WINDIR% to your windows
installation). Delete any files in there with the extension SPL or SHD.
These are the spooled data files, so deleting them effectively flsuhes any
jobs left hanging around in the spooler. Don't delete the actual folder,
just the files in it. Then try again to restart the spooler.

I am running Windows 2000 SP4. I tried to print from a DOS
based program and now the printer service will not run. I
get the following error message on startup: "spoolsv.exe
has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You
will need to restart the program." I can start the
service manually but it stops itself a few seconds later
with the same message message. Is there any way to fix
this without reinstalling Windows?
Thank you,
Raymond
