Are there any startup switches to modify the CPU priority
for this service? Registry entries? Thanks.

Are there any startup switches to modify the CPU priority
for this service? Registry entries? Thanks.
---------------------

The PriorityClass value in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print
Is a DWORD that can be from 1 (lowest priority) to 9 (highest priority)

This is from KB article 125663, and specifically relates to NT, but I
believe it is good for 2000 as well
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=125663

HOWEVER, you are going to notice some general system performance issues if
you set the spooler to a high priority. If your spooler is using an
unnecessary amount of CPU, you should look into resolving the root cause:
print drivers, port monitors, or print processors.

Thank you for the info. Its not that there is a problem
with the server, its just that I would like to give the
print spooler preference over other processes (ie. if
normal is 5, I would make the spooling service a 6 or 7).
If I can talk the district admin into it, I'd like just
turn off the services that are running but aren't being
utilized, then I wouldn't need to adjust the priorities.
