I am trying to print from a Gestetner (Ricoh) printer that
has been printing great for a year. About 3 weeks ago,
when a print job is sent from my accounting software I get
an permnt.exe-Entry Point Not Found error: The procedure
entry point ImpersonatePrinterClient could not be located
in the dynamic link library SPOOLSS.DLL

Until 3 weeks ago, everything worked fine. Now I have
tried to print from two desktops computers running Windows
2000 Service Pack 4 and get the error on both computers.
I can still print Word, Excel and Outlook and another
account program I use...just not this one program. Our
tech person said he can't find a problem, the Gestetner
tech said he can't find a problem and the accounting
software people said that Microsoft says it's a windows
problem. I can't find where Microsoft refers to this
error message. Does anyone have a clue?
Thanks
JK

There are a few instances of the SPOOLSS.DLL file. It's
on the local C: drive in folders: C:\TOPS2000 dated
4/23/1999 and 116 KB (this is the accounting program).
It's also in C:\Winnt\ServicePackFiles\i386 and
C:\Winnt\system32 both dated 6/19/2003 and 80KB each.

Then it's on the T: drive where the server houses the
accounting program and it's in T:\SPOOLSS.DLL dated
4/23/1999 and 116KB.

I don't know what the permnt.exe file is but it's on the
desktop C:\ drive in C:\TOPS2000\ODOBJ. TOPS2000 is the
full install on the desktop for the accounting program.
The T:\ Drive 2000 Server houses the data for the
accounting program.

I think this may be too confusing, but if you have any
tips, I would appreciate them.
Thanks,
JK

what is the timestamp on windows\system32\spoolss.dll (also make sure
spoolss.dll is not located in any other directory)?

is permnt.exe an internal tool?

The spoolss.dll binary shipped with Windows 2000 is dated 12/07/1999. Not
sure what the application relies on.

there is a knowledgebase for the application but I did not find the error
you are experiencing.

Since I do not understand the application, I recommend talking with support
personnel for tops2000.
