Spooler Service Not Working

I have been using my printers on XP for about 2 years,
and just yesterday, an error message came up "Spooler Sub
System App has encountered and error and must close". I
also get the error message "operation could not be
completed" when trying to access any of my printers.
Supposedly there is something wrong with the spooling
service file.
Anyone have this problem?

Normally this means one of the print drivers is causing the spooler service
to fail
