I have a computer that is running IE 6 and sometimes it will open anywhere
between 30 and 60 sometimes more individual windows and then spontaneously
close itself as well. I did check for viruses and spyware and it is clean
running both AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy as well as running NAV. I
am curious if anybody else has ever had this problem and what you did to
rectify it.

Thanks in advance.

Frank's advice, IMO, is right on. Read up on the HiJackThis
stuff and you'll find lots of assistance available to you. You
do have malware, it's just about guaranteed.
There are situations like yours that get by the stuff, and
finding which spyware/malare prog will handle it is tough at
times. Do everything you know how to do, and hijack will give
you good options.

Dumb question: You did, of course, update ALL of your
av/spyaware progs BEFORE you did those scans, right? If not; the
scans were a waste of time. And your os is up to date with all
the fixes? What is your os?
