Hi

to start , her's my setup
Winxp Pro sp1 , all update
Wireless network behind a L-11 Lancom router, 3 computers , all winxp pro sp1
Firewall disabled in windows wireless setup, enabled on the L-1
Provider: pandora.be, so I use a proxy, configured on port 80 , as needed
Windows 4.7 messenger installed, mns messenger 6.1 too
computer type is of no issue, as all 3 computers have the same problem: disconnection after a few minutes (not visible, the mns messenger window stays open , as if online) ,it becomes visible there is a problem when tring to change status or engaging a chat (comes to the signing -in window , and signs in again.

Problems started 2 weeks ago, on all 3 computers at the same time.Tried reinstalling msn , to no avail.Have actually a brand new install on this new computer, winxp is brand fresh , same problem. All worked perfectly before(on all 3 computers), nothing changed in the L-11Lancom router setup

So , it's either a problem with messenger , or connection set-ups must be changed due to changes with my provider , or with messenger.Anyway , I would like to have a solution to this, as helpfiles regarding advanced networking are not very clear nor complete.A dedicated website with extended setup features for this problem would be very welcome

Please help

Kind regards

Alex

some update

I installed Microsofts Java virtual machine, and, though I wonder what this have to do with it, now I have an error message when trying to change my status , after having succesfully logged in: "cannot change your status at this moemnt, please try again later" and then messenger disconnects

I can also confirm , after fiddling around with my router setup that he has absolutaly nothing to do with it.Enabling , disabling , re-enbling,re-disabling , rebooting after each changement do not solve the problem
I went to your website, Jonathan, and wonder if the setting you discribe for the winxp firewall might be applicable for my hardware firewall..

Very frustrating , and I would like to havge a solution to this.

Alex
