spontaneous crashing

this has plagued me for so long but ive been waiting to
get new parts, but that has been sorely delayed so now i
have to fix this before i go insane...

Specs:
ABIT IS7 mobo
Pentium4 2.6ghz 800mhz fsb w/ HT
Corsair PC4000 512mb (i had it overclocked to a 1gig fsb
and the P4 at 3.06ghz)
Geforce2 Ti (yes i know thats disgusting ill be upgrading
soon)
Creative Labs PC-DVD
300-350watt PSU (i forgot which, im too tired to check,
sorry)
D-LINK DWL120 USB network card (doesnt support XP, so i
think this may be a problem but i dont know, the crashes
are too spontaneous... but anyway i have it working
somehow i guess with windows 2000 drivers... which makes
me really think that that should be the problem but i
still dont know... never had the problem before with my
old config running xp)

Ok, the only information I have is that it is COMPLETELY
random to me and to everything I've checked. I've tried
disabling various hardware, messing around with voltages
in the motherboard, I had it overclocked but I went back
to normal, the only things I could think of was getting a
different network card and/or buying a new power supply
cause mine sucks and is quite old. I've tried
reinstalling Xp multiple times with no success. When the
computer crashes, I get the blue screen with "Driver IRQL
Not Less Or Equal." Nothing in knowledge base about it.
*tear*

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

A couple things I would suggest.

A. Run memtest or prime95 on your machine for 24 hours to stress test. Use a
program like sisoft sandra at this time and watch your temps. It could be a
heating issue. Memtest will help you determine whether your memory is bad or
not.

Next I would check the different voltages on your lines. IE that your +5
rail is close to +5 etc.

Next swap out your power supply and try that.

try searching for DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL at support.microsoft.com.
there are a few hits on that under windows xp. but the better path is to
search for the stop code from the dump. that usually gets closer to the
problem. usually those types of problems are bad hardware or outdated
drivers. try making sure you have all the latest drivers first, then run
hardware diagnostics. test memory very well. one odd one i have seen is an
intermittant ethernet card would randomly crash the system, usually while
transfering large files.
