Splitting Music

I am trying to trim a music clip. I paused at the point I wanted to split the
track. Sometimes I can split the clip but other times there is no split
option highlighted in "Clip". Any ideas?

The split option will be disabled
unless the clip is "selected".

Maybe something in the following
tutorial will work for you:

"Splitting A Clip In MM2.1"

Drag the video/audio clip to the
Timeline.

Play the video/audio by clicking the
"Play" button under the view screen.

You will see the Playback Indicator
(vertical line) advancing across the
timeline.

Click the "Pause" button at the point
where you wish to trim and type...
Ctrl+L or click the "Split" button at the
bottom of the view screen.
(you can also make adjustments by
dragging the Playback Indicator)

Make as many splits as you want and
remove the unwanted clips by right
click / delete.

Thanks, John, but that's what I'm doing and it works sometimes but not
always. Maybe it's just a quirk of either MM or my computer!

Ok...I don't have any info on intermittent
problems with the split option.

FWIW...basic computer maintenance to
keep drivers up to date (especially the video
driver)...and keeping your hard drive in order
with Disk Cleanup, Error Checking and Defrag
can go a long way toward smooth operation
of your programs.

John, I think I've figured out the problem. It seems to happen when I try to
take a shortcut and instead of playing the entire clip, drag the progress bar
to close to the place I want to clip. I played the entire clip and was able
to split it. That's what happens when you try to take the lazy way out.
