I made to partition of my hard drive one for vista and one for xp.when the
screen comes up i just goto the part that says clean install and point it to
the partition I made for vista will it install there or will it install on
the xp partition.I have downloaded VistaBoot Pro but waiting to install that
till after I do the 2 partitions. Is this the right way todo this

If you have created two partitions ( let's call them C: and E:) Windows XP
should be installed on partition C:. When you come to install Vista you will
a list of partitions will be visible to allow you to choose exactly where
you want to put vista (you only get this list if you have two
partitions/hard drives or more). Select the partition you want to install
Vista to and then continue with the installation. It might be worth actually
naming the partition (in windows xp disk managment) Vista. At least then you
will know

that you have the right partition.

When it is installing it starts to expand in partition C should it do that
then will it put Vista on the other partition

Well all it was doing was putting everything on the C drive I told it to put
it on the E drive i was watching it and it was not putting anything on the E
drive all on the C drive does it do that then transfer everything to the E
drive when it is done expanding the files

Setup has to copy temporary files to C: first before it copies files to the
target drive.

Vista automatically designated C: as it's drive letter. So long as you have
selected the correct partition on your hard drive Vista will install to
that.
