Man I hope someone can tell me what I did wrong! Here is the layout:

Internal Network running 192.168.x.x address
New 2000 network in place.
DNS Resolved names internal to the network address space (192.168.x.x) all
was well.

And Then.....

I connected the new network to the Internet. DNS is being hosted remote by
the ISP. All host records I needed have been mapped to legitimate external
addresses, the Netowrk firewall is direct mapping external and Internal
addresses as needed and port as required no problem.

The Problem...

My mail server is not resolving internally since connecting to the internet.
It will not correctly register itself on the local Win2000 DNS server,
recieving error Event ID: 5781, 5774.

I can only browse the internet internally if I reference the ISP Resolvers
instead of the local DNS server. If there is any additional information you
need please let me know.

Thank you for any and all assistance.

Who is the Exchange server pointing to for DNS in TCP/IP setting?

if you give us the output of your ipconfig /all from the Exhcange server,
the DC and the DNS server, someone here will e able to help.

OK... Further Clarifications. In testing the following has been revealed.

1. If I only use the Internal Addresses (192.168.x.x) in the TCP/IP stack
all DNS functions and errors go away.

2. If I add an external DNS server entry to the IP stack, and make it a
secondary. There are no DNS errors internal to the network and ADS, but I can
not see the internet.

3. If I move the external DNS to the primary in the IP stack, and the W2K
DNS server to the secondary, all DNS ADS errors occur, but I can see the
internet, but not resolve internally.

What is wrong?

Ray Miller went to the doctor and says:
Doctor, when I do this, it hurts.
Doctor says to him:
Don't do that.
:)

No external DNS server in the TCP/IP properties of any of your INTERNAL
computers (Servers or clients). The only place you may have to use an
external DNS server will be in the forwarding tab of your DNS properties (in
DNS console). Now, take 2 tylenol and see me in 2 weeks. The bill is in the
mail ;)
