Kevin B.

Hello,

I would like to split grouped data within a report to save space when printing.

Example:

Upgrade Kits
PART NO. COST 1 COST 2 COST 3 PART NO. COST 1 COST 2 COST 3
A $7.95 $12.66 $18.95 F $7.95 $12.66 $18.95
B $9.95 $14.26 $19.95 G $9.95 $14.26 $19.95
C $10.50 $16.73 $21.95 H $10.50 $16.73 $21.95
D $9.95 $14.26 $19.95 I $9.95 $14.26 $19.95
E $9.95 $14.26 $19.95 J $9.95 $14.26 $19.95

I can format report to show each part number as a single line item but, on a 8 1/2" x 10" paper I have a lot of wasted space.

If I could split up columns like example above it would cut printed material in half.

ANY IDEAS?

Hope this makes sense!

THANK YOU,

KEVIN B.

Have you considered File->Page Setup->Columns? Set the number of columns to
2.

Kevin - if you set the data you want to split in a subreport you could set
the columns on the subreport...

Just my 2 cents,

Susan

Apparently you don't want additional assistance since "won't work in this
case however" isn't very informative.

If you would suggest why this wouldn't work, maybe someone could provide a
work around.

Sure do! Sorry, I don't know Access lingo so it is hard for me to explain
without typing a novel!

Using your method works for splitting data but it also splits the header

How do I run a header across both columns.

THIS HEADER NEED TO GO ACROSS TOP OF BOTH COLUMNS Upgrade Kits
PART NO. COST 1 COST 2 COST 3 PART NO. COST 1 COST 2 COST 3
A $7.95 $12.66 $18.95 F
$7.95 $12.66 $18.95
B $9.95 $14.26 $19.95 G
$9.95 $14.26 $19.95
C $10.50 $16.73 $21.95 H
$10.50 $16.73 $21.95
D $9.95 $14.26 $19.95 I
$9.95 $14.26 $19.95
E $9.95 $14.26 $19.95 J
$9.95 $14.26 $19.95

A page header can span several columns. Make sure you uncheck the box in the
column layout that sets the column width to the same as the report width.

It is not actually a "page header" it needs to change with product lines so
I guess it would be a "product line header"

SusanV has suggested my next option which would be the details in a multiple
column subreport.

I suspect you might come back and suggest you need your subreport to print
down and then across rather than across, then down ;-)
