XP has no means to do this natively - I use either Nero 6 ore Easy CD
Creator 6 - both with automatically split a large file across as many discs
as is necessary.

just run it as a backup it will do the splitting automatically... i mean back it up as a file.. to dvd's

If you mean using the native back-up system, no it won't; backing up to
removable media is *NOT* supported.

I am running into a similar situation. The backup utility under XP Home edition does not allow directly to write the system-backup-file to CD-Rs etc. Can I create a large system backup file backup.... ... and then later copy the system backup file (under explorer) on to CD? Would it split the file then and write it to multiple CDs automatically? Or I have no choice bu
to use nero or Easy CD creator like you are suggesting. Thanks
