Spies on my computer?

My cursor has the little hour glass thingy that keeps
popping up next to it. I called a computer store and
they said that I may have a program running in the
background. I downloaded(but didn't pay for yet) Spy
hunter and it detected 3 files. 2 under HKEY_CLASSES_
that it said were "severe" and another one from
centrport.com which it listed as "Moderate" I tried to
delete them but it prompted me to buy the software. Are
any of these things related. Do I have people spying on
me or what?

no need to pay for a spyware removal program. There are
2 great free ones:
Ad-Aware - http://download.com.com/3000-2144-
10214379.html?tag=pop
Spyboy - Search & Destroy (google and you'll find it)

Hourglass is just your computer working. If you're not
doing anything, it means something's working in the
background. Could be spyware, could be windows doing
something. You could always check the task manager (ctrl-
alt-delete, at same time) and see if there are any
perfomance hogs running like crazy.

Best of luck!

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
