John

When I launch Microsoft Explorer, I get several
additional site that pop up. These sites typically are
porn related. Web address: 209.200.10.90. The
Microsoft Spyware runs every night, but tells me it has
found nothing. Help!

The program does not block pop-ups. Pop-ups are not
spyware related. They are calls to your browser to
launch a new browser window. Some sites use pop-up
windows for legitamate purposes and blocking theses
windows WILL make that site hard, if not impossible to
navigate/use.

You need a program such as Pop-up Blocker, or any other
program that blocks them. You can download these from a
site such as download.com. If you have a firewall such
as Zone Alarm, it can block pop-ups.

John: same thing with me. Frustrating. Also frustrating
that so far, there have been no answers given. (ANYONE
OUT THERE LISTENING?)I'll make you a deal: if either of
us gets an answer, we'll forward it to the other. OK?

Thanks.

Anybody else have this problem, or a comment?

I have Microsoft AntiSpyware set for a full scan, every
night at 9. Each time, though, it finds only one -- the
same -- item: IBIS Toolbar. Yet my other spyware utilties
find 20, 30 or 40+ items (AdAware; Spybot S&D; Ewido)
This
happens even when I don't run the other ones (leaving the
field wide open for Microsoft).

Is there something wrong with my settings?

Thanks.}}}}

You have read the notes explaining that cookies are not scanned for nor
selectively removed by the current beta builds of Microsoft Antispyware,
right?

Hi Bill

IBIS toolbar (not cookies ;) ) is involved and I believe a Safe mode
scan with both MSAS and Adaware removes it.

Bill Sanderson brought next idea :

Thanks plun--was just noting the references to large numbers of items found
by competing products--hadn't spotted the root problem involved.
