This is human curiosity rather than a problem.

I'm house hunting and was searching on mls.ca using the
MLS# (there's a 5 digit number that you enter on the
search page and it takes you to a picture and a
description of the house) The MLS# was 24131 should anyone
else want to try this. Everything was going fine but the
24131 listing was noticeably slow to load. When I looked
at the screen I noticed the following message on the
status bar at the very bottom of the screen

"Do not follow this link or your host will be blocked from
this site. This is a spider trap".

Subsequent tries to reach this site worked fine.

I've never heard of a spider trap. Can anyone supply some
information?

Thanks
Bill

Probably something to keep automated web crawlers from indexing the site or
copying, linking, whatever. A human would read the message and not follow
it, but the automated device would follow the link and forever be blocked
from that site.
