Using Office Pro 2007

When trying to spell check, I get a message that this language is no longer
available.
Any suggestions on where to look.
Thanks.

This may or may not work for your case without further info...Try changing
the language to French, close Office then open Office and change it back to
your language.

As Gary suggested more help can be found in the office groups on this same

Had the same issue and received this solution from Bruce Hagen:

The spell checker in Office 2007 is not compatible with OE6. Try a free
spell checker instead.

That is not what Bruce said or posted and that statement above is not quite accurate. He (Bruce)always said concerning this issue is that installing Office 2007 breaks spell check and he shows ways for workarounds.

Some with Office 2007 and OE have their spell check in place.

Sorry I left this off

You no longer have spell checking capabilities in some languages in OE6
after you install Office 2007

Here's the whole thing, and I don't know if the fix is relevant with Vista,
or if the spell checkers work with Vista.

Office 2007 breaks OE's spell check. Downloading a free spell check is the
simplest way around this.

Some free spell check programs.

After installing Office 2007 RTM, you don’t have English as a choice of
language in the spell checker of Outlook Express and potentially other
programs.

a.. Office 2007 is replacing the v.3 English Proofing Tools that shipped
in prior versions of Office with a new version (v.6). There are a number of
changes in this new version, but the one that is causing this problem is
that Outlook Express doesn't understand the new English Proofing Tools. This
is a problem because Outlook Express has never shipped with its own proofing
tools but has used the ones shipped by Office.
b.. There are a few scenarios in which you won't run into this problem:
a.. An upgrade from Office 2003 or earlier to Office 2007 RTM if you
don't manually uninstall the earlier version of Office.
b.. A configuration in which Office 2003 (or earlier) has not been
removed.
For example, I have Office 2003 still on both of my computers, and I
still have English in Outlook Express.
c.. The workaround for this problem is to install the English dictionary
from Office 2003 (or Office XP). There should be no need to install all of
Office just the dictionary. The English Proofing Tools can be found in the
Custom Install tree under Office Shared Features|Proofing Tools|English.

Did the op imply or state that the problem was with OE ?

I've reset the group...possibly you could check the op's post properties..iifc the post was made with Windows Mail(which includes its own spell checker), thus the issue as posted appeared to be Office 2007 unique and not a combination of Office 2007 and OE.

I installed Office 2007 on Vista (without Outlook) and the WinMail spelling
still works. Of course, on Vista WinMail comes with a spelling checker.

Tools | Options | Spelling
Change the language and change it back.

On a new computer with Vista pre-installed and Office 2007 installed I ran
into the same problem of being told that this language is no longer
available when I clicked the toolbar ABC button. I then went into "Tools |
Options | Spelling" and checked "Always check spelling before spending" (it
was unchecked) and clicked on the Language choice component (it already was
on English and I left it like that). I then went back to my message and the
error message disappeared and the spell checker said there were no spelling
errors.

It seems like a bug, and one that affects a system with no previous OS or
Office versions.
