I'm annoyed!!

I just got windows xp -I used to have windows Me on
another computer. This is a new computer.
I don't seem to have a dictionary on this one--I use the
spell checker for my email -always. But it's on here.
That is a must!

Where do I get a dictionary and how do I do it.

I am shocked it is not included.

Any help is appreciated.

Window XP has a spellchecker. I use mine all the time. I don't know why your
is not working.

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever
come with a Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the
spell checker that comes with Microsoft Word, (or another
Microsoft Office program) if you have it installed.

If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't
have a spell checker. However there are several downloadable
freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with
Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience
with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend one.

On the other hand, if a Microsoft Office component *is*
installed, try the instructions at

Greetings --

Outlook Express, as you're apparently just discovering, has never
had any spell-checking capabilities of its own. Instead, it relies
upon the presence of certain specific other Microsoft applications,
such as the Office Suite, Word, or the Works _Suite_ (which includes
Word, not the regular Works). There are also some 3rd-party
shareware/freeware solutions available at any of the many shareware
sites on the Internet

Spell Magic seems well thought-of, though I haven't tried it myself:

Greetings --

No, it doesn't. WinXP is an _operating system_, so it naturally
does not have any spell-checking capability, a function reserved for
word processors.

The SpellChecker is part of a application such as Excel, Microsft
Word and Outlook. You failed to mention what application you were
in when you wanted to check the spelling of a word.

Email?? On the menu bar click Tools on the drop down click options.
When Options window opens, click on the Spelling
tab................

I had the same problem when I bought a new computer,I ran across a beautiful
spellchecker for OE and no problems with it at all,It's name is
autospelloe.exe. The oe is for OE.
I don't remember where I got it, but I believe it was free. Maybe someone on
this newsnet remembers it.

OE 6 does not come with it's own spell check. There are downloads available.
Get a free spell check at either site below.
