When I am using Outlook, the Spellcheck icon is not lit.
If I click on it, nothing happens. The advice in the
Help section states to go to the Tools menu, click
Options and click on the Spelling tab to activate the
spellcheck but there is no Spelling tab in the Options
menu.

Thanks for any help you can give.

OE doesnt include spell check. you either must have a third party spell
checker install or Microsoft Word or Office.

If you are using Windows Outlook Express for your e-mail and don't have
"Spell Check", click the link below and download it for free. After you do,
it will appear on the toolbar where spell check is grayed out. Works great
and is safe.

Greetings --

Outlook Express, as you've just discovered, has no spell-checking
capabilities of its own. Instead, it relies upon the presence of
other Microsoft applications, such as the Office Suite, Word, or the
Works _Suite_ (which includes Word, not the regular Works). There are
also some 3rd-party shareware/freeware solutions available at any of
the many shareware sites on the Internet

Spell Magic seems well thought-of, though I haven't tried it myself:
