How do I put the spell checker on in writing any
document?? I have Windows xp

thank you for your help I'm new at this!

Windows XP (including WordPad) does not have a spell checker. A spell
checker would come with whatever word processing software you have
installed, such as Word, WordPerfect, etc.

Greetings --

That would depend entirely upon what specific application you're
using as a word processor. Naturally, as an operating system, WinXP
has no spell checking capabilities.

Dear Mr. Gates doesn't think people NEED spellcheckers. :-) There are
two (probably more) Word programs you can get for FREE on the net (use
Google) that include free spellcheckers. "Cetus CWordPad" and "AbiWord."
Both are as easy to use as MSs WordPad. There's also a FREE spellchecker
for the web - ieSpell.

Good answer ! Obviously ( at least to me ) the party posting was a newbie
and did not realize that most of those answering questions here are highly
educated and long time computer users, so have forgotten how to give a
simple answer to a newbie. Of course , there are exceptions and we know who
they are.

By the way, I really loved that post in answer to a question you asked the
other day, that ( one of those answering) was not here to educate you about
computers. The last I saw you did not even aknowedge his post. That type
person deserves to be ignored.

Thanks. I can relate to the newbies and know how difficult it is to
understand some of the technical advice given here (or at the websites you
recommend). Although I've used a PC since 1996 I'm certainly no
technician.

It's easy to talk right over someone's head and never even realize it.
