I'm sure there are others out there, but here are links for some free ones I
know of.

(This is the one I'm using right now.)

(This may be another place to get the same one I have or a different
program, I'm not sure.)

(This one works well too!)

Or if you'd like to make OE use the spell checker you have for Microsoft
Works, etc. you can find the directions for doing that here:
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm or here:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/oe_spellcheck.htm or here:
http://www.tech-pro.co.uk/index.html I don't know if they all say the same
thing or not, that's why I gave you some different options. I'm more of a
"download queen" than a hacker so am more comfortable just downloading an
extra little program that does what I need! LOL

Another one that make use of a Microsoft spell checker
(and vbs scripting):
<http://www.pcnineoneone.com/tweaks/scripts8.html>
<quote>
This script uses Microsoft Word's powerful spell checker utility
to check any text you've copied to the clipboard. The beauty of
this script is its simplicity. Simply highlight any text you wish
to check and press Ctrl+C to copy it to the clipboard. Then, just
click the shortcut to the script on your Quick Launch bar or use
the keyboard shortcut provided by the installer. The script will
check the text for errors and allow you to correct them. You can
then simply paste the now corrected contents of the clipboard
back into your document or web dialog box; anywhere you can edit
text can be spell checked with this script [...]

(have not tried it my self)

All the best,

I want to get as far as possible from MS software. I'm fed up
with having my chain yanked every time MS wants more money.

I intend to use non-Microsoft mail and news software. I rid my
system of Microsoft Office, and went to Open Office. Doing so
deprived me of spell checking in Outlook Express. I am just
starting to try Xnews, so I'm interested in a spell routine that
works with this program. Recently, my excellent spelling ability
has begun to suffer. One day, I may start using the apostrophe
for plural and writing "insure" for "ensure." Oh, God, I'm
beginning to lose it.

Any advice?

Kill yourself.
Or, join a monestary and contemplate why you aren't Amish.
(The best technology ended in the late 1800's, don't you
know? Kind of like having a command line Linux DOS
emulator.)
*I'd apologize to the Amish for saying that but I know
they're not reading this.*
