Hi,
If the Spell Checking seems to work in the other Microsoft
applications and if it still does not work in the OE then
take the following steps to fix this problem:
IMPORTANT: The steps provided below involve
registry changes. The registry contains critical
information and I strongly suggest that you back up the
registry by following these steps:
CAUTION: A registry backup is essential. An incorrect
registry entry may cause serious system problems or
prevent the computer from starting. You will not be warned
of any incorrect registry entries. If the registry is not
backed up, the only way to recover the system is to
reinstall the operating system.
1. Click Start and select Run.
2. Type REGEDIT in the Open field and click OK.
3. Click "Registry" in the menu.
4. Click "Export Registry" from the drop-down menu.
5. Click the down arrow beside "Save In" and select Local
Disk(C
.
6. Type BACKUP.REG in the File Name field.
7. Verify that the "All" radio button under the "Export
Range" is
selected.
8. Click Save.
After a copy of the Windows registry is saved in your
computer, resume with these steps:
1. Start the Windows Registry Editor by running
REGEDIT.EXE found in the \Windows folder.
2. Click + sign before HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3. Click + sign of Software
4. Click + sign of Microsoft
5. Click + sign of Shared Tools
6. Locate the value named "SharedFilesDir"
NOTE: You will most likely see that the data for this
value is: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared"
7. Double-click the name of the value and add a \
(backslash) to the end of the data.
8. Now the data should be: "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\"
9. Close the Windows Registry Editor and now the spell
checker should work.
I hope this information will be helpful to you.
Thanks,
