When I bought my system, and went to find spell check, I
was told I needed to install a program that has spell
check.
I have Windows XP and need to know what program I should
get and a fairly good price

Hello Priscilla Bard,

Well, any Microsoft Office Version has spell check. If you have Outlook
Express there's spell check included too.

Microsoft Office XP costs around $400 from Amazon.com

You need MS Word, available on its own (stand alone) or as part of the
Office suite of programs.

First of all, note that if she has Windows XP, she has Outlook
Express. Outlook Express 6 comes with Windows XP.

Second, note that there has never been a spell checker included
with any version of Outlook Express. By default, Outlook Express
uses the spell checker that comes with Microsoft Office, but
there are several third-party spell checkers that will also work
with it.

Greetings --

Outlook Express, as you've discovered, has no spell-checking
capabilities of its own. Instead, it relies upon the presence of
other Microsoft applications, such as the Office Suite, Word, or the
Works _Suite_ (which includes Word, not the regular Works). There are
also some 3rd-party shareware/freeware solutions available at any of
the many shareware sites on the Internet

Spell Magic seems well thought-of, though I haven't tried it myself:
