spell check

I'm new to Vista, but very disappointed with it's proprietary nature. I CAN'T
seem to be able to check spelling, changing from english to french and then
back again is not an option to activate this function (as I've read someone
elses comments)...why can't I simply click on "spell check"?

I'm not real sure what your problem is. Your description is not clear.

Do you want WinMail to check spelling when you click Send or do you want to
check some particular word or sentence or paragraph immediately?

Tools | Options | Spelling
Check the box to Always check before sending.

or

Highlight the text you want to check and press F7.
