Speeding up Officejet V40

This handmedown machine performs all its functions but prints like a
cheap paymaster handing out
money. Two minutes to print out a one page invoice with a smidge of
color in it. I've tried everything
else, could the cable be at fault? It's printing from usb 2.0 and a
four year old Athlon 64 laptop.

Hold your cable in tight at the back of the printer while printing a
test page. Sometimes the connection becomes loose after the cable has
been jammed against a
wall.
