Speed problem

I switched from dial up to cable with modem a few months
ago. There is no improvement in the speed of my computer.
Still not fast like others I know with the same thing.
(only 1 year old) Some one said it could be the drivers?
Possibly the cable modem ste up? PLEASE HELP ! I am not
real computer to please understand this ! Thanks much !

if the speedometer is over 500 or more you have high speed
access (please disable any firewall to do this test).
Usually high speed is not noticiable when web browsing.
The real difference is when you donwload files when you
see the diference.
