Hi: If installing a lot of software slows the machine down, will installing
the programs on multiple partitions speed it up?

I have a lot of software, but can't install it without slowing it down to a
crawl
Thanks...Mike

Installing lots of software does not slow a machine down.
If you run lots of software regardless of where it loads from you will see a
performance hit.
You may wish to run the disk defragmentation tool regularly to ensure that
you hard disk is running as well as it can and is not being impacted by
fragmentation

Mike: Thanks for the reply. I have a LOT of software, but have formatted and
re-installed just the things I use every day, for now. The problem I had was
a super slow response, such as, I look at the keyboard when I'm typing with
my 2 fingers...I typed a full address in IE (http://www.someplace.com) and
looked at the address bar in IE, and the letters were just starting to
appear, very slowly, h....t....t....p...:.../...etc (without the dots) a few
seconds apart...slow as hell. Someone told me that I had too much software
installed, and I was wondering if I had some sort of spy program that was
recording my keystrokes, and also was wondering if maybe the graphics card
was going...do you have any idea what could have caused that? I ran spyware
and the system is clean...thanks for your time...MikeG in Erie

hi mike , like mike B said a lot of software will not slow your machine
down, however if your applications start automatically, ie reside in the
system tray, along with time and whatever then your overall response
time will be degraded. however i do think your prob lies somwhere else....
first thing you can check is your keyboard properties under the control
panel. check your properties on the hardware tab , check your drivers...
your CMOS settings, chek those also, ... how old is your CMOS battery?
.... worth renewing... i remember i had all sorts of fun and games b4 on
my older pc b4 i changed the battery... hope this helps. rob
