Hi Zodiacal -

The recommended minimum requirements are listed in the following article.

159366 ACC97: Setup Requirements for Microsoft Access 97
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=159366

Mimimum is 486 Processor and 16mgs RAM. However, for every application you
want to run simultaneously, you will need to increase that.

Hope that helps!

whats the least mhz and memory you would dare run access97 with windows
2000?

A bare bones Windows 2000 system takes 52 Mb. (According to a test
session I have running inside VMWare.) But by the time you load on
anti virus, CD Rom burner drivers, software firewall, etc, this could
be as much as another 80 to 100 Mb.

You'll have to take a look at your own environment to decide what is
acceptable but I'd say 128 Mb as a minimum. I'd prefer 256 to give
lots of room for other apps to be running.

As far as Mhz goes you I've happily run A97 on a P133 I think. It
might even happily run on a 486 just be kinda sluggish.

With a fast hard disk, and 256k of memory, a 600 mhz pc is more then plenty
to run a demanding ms-access application.

If I was stuck, and the users ONLY run ms-access, then a 450mhz pc with only
64 megs of ram would be ok. (assuming the user keeps other applications
closed while running ms-access).

The problem is not windows 2000, and ms-access, it is training the user not
load up all kinds of other garbage at start-up, and to not run other
applications at the same time. If no other applications are loaded, and the
start of the pc is very clean, then 64 megs of ram on win2000 is workable.

It really depends on how much junk is on the pc. The real deciding factor
here is how much other junk runs on the pc. I have seen screen savers that
require more resources then ms-access!
