On a smaller network, it would create very slow initial connections as the
name is resolved to an IP (if it even does resolve, that is.) Once the
connection is made, transfer speed (e.g. file copy) should be normal speed.
Now on a huge network, as DNS & WINS queries fail and broadcasts start
flooding your subnet, you may see overall slowdowns.
Download a copy of NetIQ's Q-Check freeware program. It tests data
throughput between IP addresses. It will at least allow you to determine
