I continue to recieve a warning message when I attempt to
use "Speed Disk" on my Win2K SP4. It says that it hasn't
been tested with it and recommends looking for Speed Disk
updates which are compatable with SP4? Where would I look?
I've installed every Windows update avaiable and I have
yet to see any offered update to speed disk. Any
suggestions would be welcome.

Hi Bill,

The following is from the Symantec support site:

Message: "Warning! This version of Speed Disk . . . " after upgrading the
operating system to a new service pack
Situation:
When you run Speed Disk after upgrading your operating system to a new
Service Pack, you see one of the following messages:

- "Speed Disk is not certified on this Operating System"
- "Warning! This version of Speed Disk has not been tested with the Service
Pack that is installed on your computer. You should run LiveUpdate to see if
an updated version of Speed Disk is available."

Solution:
This message does not indicate that Speed Disk is impaired. Speed Disk is
working as designed. This message indicates that Speed Disk has not been
tested with the service pack that is on your computer. This situation
happens when Microsoft releases a service pack after the release of Speed
Disk.

What to do when you see this message
When you see this message, run LiveUpdate to ensure that you have the latest
Norton Utilities or Norton SystemWorks update. To run LiveUpdate, click the
LiveUpdate icon at the top of the Norton Utilities or Norton SystemWorks
Integrator (the main screen that you see when you first open Norton
Utilities or Norton SystemWorks).

If obtaining the latest update prevents the message from displaying, then
Speed Disk is compatible with the service pack that is installed. If the
update does not prevent the message, then the service pack may not have been
tested and it may be unknown whether Speed Disk is compatible with the
service pack.

If no updates are available or you cannot run LiveUpdate at this time, you
can disable the warning message by selecting the option "Do not show this
warning again" that is displayed on the warning message. After you select
the option and click OK, Speed Disk continues.

Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
Norton SystemWorks 2003/2004 have no known compatibility problems with
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4). To use Speed Disk on a computer that is
running SP4, select the option "Do not show this warning again" and click
OK.

If you encounter problems with Norton SystemWorks immediately after
installing SP4, uninstall and then reinstall Norton SystemWorks. This
process ensures that the appropriate NSW files are in the necessary
locations on the hard disk.

Regards,

Ken Simmons
