I installed SP4 and when I went to defrag my hard drive
with Norton Speed Disk, it says,

"Speed disk is designed to run with Windows 2000 and
Windows NT 4.0, service pack 3 or later. It will not run
on Windows NT 3.51."

Has anyone had this problem or have a clue on how to fix
it.

Same problem. Nothing, so far, on Symantec's website that
I could find. I uninstalled SP4 and Speed Disk works fine
again. (SP4 also appeared to slow down my net access
considerably, so I was planning to uninstall anyway.)

Yes, I also have this problem.
I am using Norton Utilities 2001, and I discovered on the Symantec web
site that this version is no longer supported. <groan>

But who is responsible for a fix? Symantec or Microsoft? My sense is
that SP4 changed a "marker file" that causes Speed Disk to think it is
running under NT 3.51 - but that's speculation.

I think I will follow Fred Deiss's suggestion and uninstall SP4. I am
not optimistic there will be a quick fix, and I don't relish getting
caught between two software companies that may blame each other for the
problem.

You will need to get an update from Symantec. Use the LiveUpdate. It fix the
problem for me. :)
