speed and performance

I utilize powerpoint 2003 2 to 3 hours a day and I never have a problem with
speed or performance. Starting this afternoon, powerpoint started taking
forever to load a file and once opened the keystrokes were a good 5 seconds
behind hitting the keys. No other program operates like this on pentium 4
3.2ghz with 1 gig ram. It will eventually come up and say on top "program
not responding" Any ideas to what is causing this.
