Speech to Text

Hello,

I am working on an web-based application where users will give their
input in form of speech using microphone and I've to show whatever
they spoke in text in a textbox, how is that possible?

Just give me any pointers on this.
I will really appreciate any help on this.

I have a great trick for this. All you need is Microsoft Office 2003.

Thank you for your message. I guess I don't need Microsoft Office as I
intend to develop a we-based software that only inolves client and
server, noting in between :)
So question remains, how would I do speech to text conversion in
asp.net application? Any input will be highly appreciated.

It is a web application. Office is not going to help even if it is installed
on every client's machine. Shop for a third-party speech-to-text ActiveX.

Look at some of the SALT forums products area for some good suggestions.

Also, take a look at VoiceXML put togetehr by the W3C, it was out before
SALT and is very high level, but theres support out there for it....

Check out the SASDK for .Net 1.1, this allows you to create ASP.Net 1.1 web
applications that uses speech recognition. It can do excatly what you are
describing, put text in a textbox via the user speaking the text (Multimodal)
If you want to use any of the telephony stuff you will need to get Microsoft
Speech Server 2004.

However there isnt a .Net 2.0 SASDK, there is a beta for Microsoft Speech
Server.

If you want to write something your self, SALT is what you would want to
look at. VoiceXML doesnt support Multimodal applications that I know of.
