I was clicking along rapidly while reading news articles when suddenly an MS
(I assume) window popped up leading me through the installation of a speech
recognition option for Internet Explorer 6.0. I didn't configure the
microphone when asked to and merely cancelled out, hoping everything would
simply go away. Unfortunately, the next time I open IE, at the top of screen
appeared a tool bar for microphone, tools, and help. I finally worked my way
to a "Text Services and Input Languages" window by clicking "Settings" under
"Tools" and found "Speech Recognition" listed under the "Installed Services"
section. Above it is "Keyboard" with "US" listed below and indented. There's
provision for me to highlight the "Speech Recognition" entry and click
"Remove", which I'm prone to do if that removes whatever started to install.
The other option is to leave it if it doesn't interfere with anything. Who
knows, I may want to toy with it ... if I can find instructions.
I'd appreciate an explanation of just what occurred here (if I've given
enough info) and a recommendation for removing at least the tool bar.
