Speech Recognition-cannot begin to adjust microphone

Mic works fine on WinXP but when I use Vista (Ultimate with all updates) I
cannot adjust volume at all. I have a headset mic plugged into jacks on front
panel. A high quality USB mic is recommended. Could this be my problem? Since
it works on XP, I thought it would work on Vista also.
 
Problem solved! Purchased a USB headset and speech recognition on Vista works
great.
