I need to buy a computer that I will use as a server for my office to
allow 6 other users to read/write from a directory on the computer.

What kind of specs should I look for in a computer such as this?

Depends how frequently they will access it? Just get a standard desktop PC
and put as much RAM in it as possible.

My server specs: (Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition)

1Ghz RAM
Athlon XP 2400+
1 NIC

2 hard drives (40gb and 60gb)
1 floppy
1 CD ROM

No sound card, very low end graphics card, no joystick, mouse, keyboard, old
and very well used 17" monitor. No burner of any description! It's a
server!!!!! Minimum software... O/S, Office, antivirus - runs my web and
mail server.

What you don't need on a Server.... fast graphics card, high end audio,
multiple speakers, games, incompatible software, joystick, CD Burner, DVD
burner etc etc.

You do NOT want to be using the Server as your primary PC. Sit it in a
corner and let it run quietly by itself. If you want to access/save files
on it, get yourself your own PC!
