The simplest way to adjust the row heights is to use the "distribute rows
evenly" function found on the tables tool bar.
- Using the mouse, right click and drag to Select all rows of the table,
(alternately, select only the rows that you want to re-size).
- Now click on the Distribute rows evenly tool.
(The icon shows two rows next to vertical railroad track.)
Clicking on the tool when at least two rows are selected, will distribute
the rows evenly. Generally, the distributed row height for all selected rows
is equal to the largest row height in the selected group.
- Distributing rows may expand or contract the vertical height of the table
place holder, which can disrupt the slide's layout.
- If you have split cells and merged rows, then distributing rows evenly may
produce some bizarre results.
Additional info:
- The "distrubute columns evenly" tool performs in a similar manner.
- Many users prefer to create tables in Word (or Excel). Word provides
better tools to manipulate the table's properties. The completed table is
easily copied and pasted into PowerPoint. Excel can create table structures
that can be pasted into powerpoint as tables or as spreadsheets (or as a
picture).

When inserting a blank table, the initial Row height is determined by the
interaction of four factors. 1) the total number of rows, 2) the default font
3) the default internal margins, and the 4) default size of the border lines.
The table is inserted at a fixed vertical position, and has a fixed
horizontal width, centered on the slide. The rows are distributed evenly
downward from the fixed vertical insertion point, and the columns are
distributed evenly horizontally between the fixed horizontal width.
