I have a W2k domain with a central office and 18 remote
sites connected back to it via VPN. All of a sudden, some
users, regardless of which machine they logon to on the
WAN, are unable to complete the logon process. The
workstation hangs at Loading Personal Settings and never
completes. The same user can logon to a workstation on
the LAN and have no problem. Other users can logon from
the WAN, (same machine as the previous user was having the
problem with), and have no problem. Clearly it is
username specific. This has happened once before and
creating a new username fixed the issue. I would really
like to avoid that this time since there are more users
having the problem. Thanks, Paul

This sounds like the logon process takes too long to establish
the user's profile folder. Have you examined the profiles in
question? They might contain huge .PST files that take
forever to copy to the local disk.
