specific contacts to receive plain text emails

I want to designate specific contacts to receive plain text emails or
stationery without having to choose each one separately.

And how do you expect to do this without selecting the contacts
individually? Have you categorized them? And in what version of Outlook?

You can mark a contact to receive all messages in plain text format by opening that person's contact record, double-clicking the email address, and choosing plain text from the available mail format options.

There is no similar option to specify stationery for a particular person.

Well, Milly...

I was hoping to do it by setting the default email type, i.e. plain text for
each contact in question. I just did not remember how to do it. Now that Sue
has explained the process I remember how to do it.

No, Milly...I did not categorize them. The version of Outlook I am using is
Outlook 2003 Professional.

specific email formats. I followed your suggestion but the email still
defaults to HTML.

I will keep watching for further suggestions here. I am using Outlook 2003
Professional.

The setting for the individual recipient has no effect on the format of the message that the sender sees. Think about it: You might have an HTML message that you want to send to multiple recipients, but have half of them get it in plain text.

What the recipient gets will be plain text. You can test this, of course, simply by sending yourself a message using that technique.

In my last reply I was thinking that the receiver would get the email in the
format specified but I did not know how to put it into words. Since you put
it into words it makes perfect sense. I will test it out as you have
suggested to make sure. If these steps do not work then perhaps I will need
to do a detect and repair of my installation. Thanks Sue so much for your
help.
