Is it possible to cut out a small piece of a picture so the background shows
thru? Such as cutting out a window on a picture which has been laid over
another picture in the background of a blue sky.

Think backwards: Cover the area you want to cut out with an autoshape, then
fill the autoshape with the background and no line. That should give you the
same result....

Hi Margo
Heres a method I often use (you can see it in the pan and zoom in our free
animation showcase download). Draw a shape and fill with a picture. Create
the shape for the window and fill with a solid color (pref. one not obvious
in the picture - usually bright pink for me!). Place the window where you
want and group the shapes. Now cut and paste special as a png file and use
the transparency wand in the picture toolbar to make the "pink" transparent
