Hi, Is there possible that my Parkard Bell I MEDIA 5093 computer does not
support my new Sony HC-32 camera? I have Windows XP installed, but this
particular Sony model is not listed on the Packard Bell website. I am new to
this, and someone told me I need a special driver to make my Sony happy. Is
it correct? If yes, how/where to get it? Please help if you can. Many thanks.

Any drivers needed should be found on the hardware manufacturer's web site -
in your case: Sony.

Hi George....I have a Sony HC40 that works fine with my computer; probably
because it also is a Sony Vaio. But I was thinking; did you install the
'Picture Package' software that came with your camera? Also, in the specs
for your camera under 'additional features' it says it comes with both
'drivers and utilities' and 'Sony Picture Package'.....so they are probably
together on the program cd, or you have two of them that came with the
camera. Good luck. The main thing is to get your video
into your computer by whatever means.....you can then import it into Movie
Maker to do your editing to make a movie.

Hi, Many thanks for your suggestions, but unfortunately the problem is still
there . . .

George, are you using a 'firewire' cable? That is what you need to transfer
the video from your camera into your computer (i.e. movie maker). USB won't
cut it....look for other questions and comments on here about 'importing'
into your computer and you may find the discussions helpful. I hope your
Packard Bell has a firewire port that you can use. Good luck.

In his other post on the same subject he says he is using a firewire cable
but with a Packard Bell firewire card. Anybody left out there that actually
likes Packard Bell? I don't and since the capture worked on another computer
using the same firewire cable I suggested a new card.
