Special Characters when Opening Text Files

Thanks Dave, I'll try that but what I can't understand is that I ope
the file in other computers without the TAB character. I am more
inclined to think that it has something to do with my Settings
 
From your description, it sounded like you wanted to have your cake and eat it,
too. You want to specify that your data is delimited by both tabs and
semi-colons--but if you do this, the fields don't match up.

So I figured that those tabs might not be delimiters--just characters in the
data (not created by excel--but by some other program that allows you embed tabs
in what would be cells in excel.

Excel doesn't support this kind of tabs within the cell.

I wasn't sure what problem you avoided by opening it on the other pc--so I chose
to ignore that part <vbg>.

You may want to use this addin from Chip Pearson to verify that it's really a
tab character:
