Special bullet character lost when reopen pres

We have created a PowerPoint template with bullet lists created with a
special character. This special character is a standard Windows character
that should be present on most machines.

In nearly all cases it works quite perfect, except if you do exactly like
this:

* The user creates a new fresh bullet list.
* First the user removes the bullet from the first bullet line.
* Then he indents the the next bullet line to the next bullet level.

Now it looks quite ok. But, when the user saves the changes to the pres and
reopens the pres the special characters are replaced with standard bullets.
(The special characters are present in the slide master for all the levels.)
Please note that in other slides with the (where the user has used the
bullet list more appropriate) special bullets, the format is preserved.

Is there any way to overcome this? I know I could maybe use a macro to
adjust this but I prefer not to use it if possible. (Were using Off 2000 and
Off XP with latest service packs)

Thanks in advance Ulrik
