What do people think? its going to be my first build so want everything to be ok before i buy
I will be using it for alot of gaming/video editing + internet.

2x Raptors?

a waste of money if you ask me, especially when you can get a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 Tetrabyte drive for cheaper.
but your choice... 300GB to 1,000GB hmm... :D

when do you plan on buying?

if you can hold out a little longer, Nvidia will be releasing a new GPU next month. Same Intel will be releasing the Penryn (or have they already?) so that will drive prices down, allowing you to step up on the processor.

£320 for a case? you're crazy

all looks good, the only thing i'd suggest is that you dont waste your time with norton

whoa, that case is expensive.

there are definitly cheaper alternatives (CM Stacker 280, practically a classic)

Yea i thought the case was a bit on the expensive side. A friend recommended it to me. Thought of it as a Case for life lol

Logitech MX aint a bad mouse, but the G5 or G9 series are excellent mice (i have a G5) they fit like a glove.
dodge Norton. there are better apps out there, and they free! (AVG free, Antivir, etc.)
How much are those headphones? the price is cut out so to speak.

also get two dvd drives instead of one - sounds trivial, but its conveinient

I have a Lian-Li PC-V2100
pretty much dwarfs any full tower ive seen, no cheap but cheaper than that one :D

Is the power supply enough?

Yes, that's a good power supply.

That's a very good system indeed. You won't regret using the two Raptor drives, I have two x the 74Gb Raptors in a RAID 0 and I can say most emphatically it does speed things up. Are you going to use a RAID 0 setup? It will improve things if you do.

They are a tad noisier than other hard disks though.

Don't even consider Nortons, a complete waste of money and will kill off all the speed advantages you've gained with the Raptor drives.

If you want to pay for Anti Virus software get Kaspersky or NOD 32. Or use AntiVir or Avast for free.

Your 4Gb of memory will likely show only 3Gb or 3.5Gb under a 32 bit operating system, you sure you don't want to stick with just 2Gb? There are ways around getting the 4Gb to show but it doesn't always work. This is something I found out the hard way.

The case is expensive, I certainly wouldn't spend that much on a case but if you like it and you have the cash then go for it.

And as mentioned above, get yourself a DVD-ROM drive to complement your burner, so much easier when copying a disk and they're only about £14.00.

Good luck with the build, all that kit - with the exception of Nortons - looks superb :thumb:

I've come back to this as something was nagging.

Sussed it - it's that Revolution Mouse.

They're known to be problematic and 100's of people have had trouble with them and sent them back.

Best gaming mouse atm is the Logi G9, even though it's corded.

I have a G5 on one machine (corded) and a G7 on my main machine. The G7 is now discontinued and was probably the best cordless laser mouse ever made and I've tried a couple of razers as well.

Unfortunately the G7 suffered problems as well, which is why it was discontinued, I've had to repair mine twice and I expect it's only a matter of time before it dies, it's about two years old now.

Which version of vista shall i get ? 32bit or 64?
I will be using the pc for alot of gaming.. etc

That's more than enough. I don't know how good Akasa PSU's are though, so can't comment.

This would be my choice orThis.

If you're Gaming lots to be on the safe side I'd go for the 32 bit Vista although of course the 64 Bit system will probably perform better. You may be lucky and be able to get drivers for everything to work in 64 bit and all your Games may work in 64 bit.

Or you could be unlucky.

Look at the components you've chosen then search the web, manufacturer's sites and Game sites to see if 64 bit drivers are available.
