Installed new Realtek driver.
Why? Was your sound output not working before? Why did you "fix" something
that wasn't broke?
Can hear internal sounds,
What might be "internal sounds"? Whether you even have speakers attached,
you will always hear your hard disk spinning, case fans, and other noise
generators inside your computer's case that have nothing to do with the
audio capabilities of your computer.
but Speakers do not work.
Anyone know how to turn off internal sounds and enable external sounds?
So are "internal sounds" those that play through some other set of speakers
that you have yet to identify?
Did you hear "external sounds" before installing the probably unnecessary
and potentially incorrect driver?
Is this a new setup for external sound (i.e., you never got it working) or
an old setup that stopped working after your "fix" to the driver?
If this is a new setup, how do you know those external speakers work? Did
you plug in some other sound source to them, like a portable radio or CD
player or the line-out audio jack from a VCR, DVD player, stereo system, or
whatever you happen to have as an alternate audio source?
For these external speakers, do they have their own hardware-level mute
function, like a mute button or where you press a couple buttons to mute
them? Do they have their own volume level control? Did you check that it
is at its max setting? Since they are external speakers which means they
are powered, did you plug them in?
In the Sounds applet in Control Panel, which device is selected for the
audio output device?
