speaker cuts out

I think I know the answer to this problem but I'm looking for an easy
fix ...

My left computer speaker cuts out. I've changed speakers and get the
same problem and I can solve it by unplugging the speaker cable from my
computer and replugging it.

I've cleaned out the speaker outlet on my computer and still have the
same problem.

I imagine the next step is to replace the sound card (a slight expense
and a slight hassle).

Any things I should try first?

Thank you!

Best wishes,

Bill

Yes. unplug your computer from the mains. Carefully remove the
sound card and replug it. Making sure the contacts on the card,
and Mboard are clean.
That bit is free, and might help your problem.

Is it the same speaker cable or different? Could be the
cable or the sound card jack.

You could try a different cable and take the sound card out
and examine the jack including the solder pads on the back
of it (in case the solder was bad or stress has pulled the
socket up). If your case has a metal piece intefering with
the cable plugging into the sound card fully, you might try
slightly repositioning the card so the cable plug seats in
the socket better.
