Hi all,

Having a bit of trouble trying to create spanned volumes. I have a
200GB and an 80GB that I'd like to combine. I have no problem
creating them as spanned volumes but when I try to create them as
stripped I run into a snag.

Creating them as stripped doesn't use all of the combined space of the
two drives. It leaves out about 70GB as unallocated space.

The method I'm using to do this is simply under Disk Management under
Computer Management.

In order to use stripped volumes, you would want ideally, to have
physical drives of the same size. You can use them in the manner you
are trying now but as you see you will have a portion of the drive
that is not used. You can create another volume on the unallocated
space but I think that defeats the purpose of what you are wanting to
do here. Combining the twos drives to create a larger logical drive?

You are better off using spanned volumes to combine the space of two
drives with differing physical capacity.

Here is a tutorial on the subject;
