spambots filling in my forms

Hi All,

Chances are this has been answered someplace before, so I apologize in
advance if it has. My website is completely done in FrontPage 2002 and on a
few of the WebPages I have forms done in FrontPage as well. About 3 months
ago I started receiving all 5 forms being filled in with URL's and addresses
and I receive this daily now. So I have to delete this every day, but need
to fish through the good from the bad.

Is there anything that I can use to fix this issue? Something that perhaps
needs manual entry where I see on some sites you must enter letters/numbers
from a fuzzy type box. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
in advance for considering the above.

Regards,
Sam

The solution may be as simple as a form field that you validate. Let's say
you ask a question; What Color is The Sky and the viewer must enter into
your form field the word Blue...validate on Blue. Not fool proof, but it
works for me.

Hello,

This is a major problem in many websites.

The most effective solution is to use a captcha, where a user types in the
letters in a image.

There is a free ASP (if you know how to use) script for captcha here -
http://www.tipstricks.org/

Otherwise, a solution like the above will suffice. But you will need to
change the question and/or answer as spam bots will gradually bypass it.

gradually bypass it.

If you are properly validating the page, they cannot bypass it.

Also, captcha methods are notoriously inaccessable. There's no reason to be
so elaborate. A simple solution like that proposed by Ronx is best, and
works very well.

Thanks for the promotion!

| Yes - Robx. Thanks! 8)
