I use the "Create Rule From Message" to control spam
email. If, for example, the email address of a spam email
is "(e-mail address removed)" I type "*@yahoo.com" and supposedly it
should prevent all email from yahoo.com but it does not.
Does anyone know how to stop email from an email address?
I also use the "Block" command but that only works for the
exact email address.

If you *know* that you'll never get legitimate email from anyone on
yahoo.com, this might help a little, but there's still a ton of spam that
uses other faked addresses -- I even had one of my business email addresses
used as a fake "from" for a while.

Check your email headers on received email and look for a header called
something like "X-SPAM-SCORE". Many providers are starting to provide spam
filtering at the server level, and will add this header for suspicious
email. On two of my ISPs, the header includes a string composed of '+'s --
the higher the spam score, the more '+'s there are. I just use my email
client filter to look for that header with '+++++' and trash it
automatically, then look for '+++' and put it into a holding folder for
review.

If your ISP doesn't provide this service, suggest to them that they are
falling behind the times and may start losing customers to their more
advanced competitors.
