I have received the following email:

"Go to Add a contact person (in one's address book, I assume) and add one

Name 0000000 Last 000000
Email 00000@virus

Spam will spot (stop??) at 0 and will not go through your whole address book."

Could anyone tell me if this is true and, if so, how it works.

Thank you

Douglas

It is a variation of a hoax.

And not correct at all.

Spam has nothing to do with your addressbook. Being infected with a mass-mailing Internet
worm will read your afddressbook and will send itself to all the email addresses found on
your computer regardless of that entry and the addressbook is not the only place
mass-mailing worms search for email addresses.
