Spam problem getting worse

I tried using new email address when posting to these newsgroups to try and
avoid getting so many virus spams at my regular email address. I'm using
Outlook Express and i changed my email address in: Tools/Accounts/News
tab/Properties/Email address and Reply Address.

Yet in the past four days, i've been pretty active in the newsgroups and the
virus spams are still going to my old email address and nothing is going to
my new email address.

Can anybody explain this or tell me what to change to make it work ? My
postings in the newsgroups are using the new email address. I can see that
when i read them thru the newsreader.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

Tony,
Why use any valid address in the newsgroups?
Any reply to your newsgroup post should be here, in the newsgroup, not to
you personally, so change your address to something like:
(e-mail address removed)

Nothing will find you.

By the way, I was getting 400 + a day at one point, and I'm down to 6 to 10
now. But it did take a couple of weeks. Have patience.

For some more information, see the post:
'Reducing spam associated with posting to newsgroups'
from the 'Microsoft Communities Team'
posted in this group yesterday at 3:25 PM.

Some News Servers require a valid email address for posting. The one I use
for example CIS.DFN.DE. My sig explains the work-around I have
implemented.

Fred, Thanks for your reply.

That's not the way i chose to handle this problem. I used Microsoft's
suggestion to use another email address.

Thanks,
Tony
